Player Preview and Draft

Player Preview
All registered players check-in and receive a numbered jersey in cafeteria.
Check in times are normally A-L at one time, and M-Z 45 minutes later.
Coaches need to be there 15 minutes before A-L times, and stay the whole time (usually 2 hours).
Coaches sons will preview last (after the M-Z's are finished).
Coaches receive a list of players, with the jersey number next to their name.
Coaches will sit in stands, and watch the players go thru some drills.
Coaches should take notes as to position, size, ball handling, shooting, and overall abilities.
Drills will be run by a director, taking 6 players in at a time.
Drills include: dribbling up and down the court (3 at a time), layup drill with shooting also, and 3x3 scrimmage.
Players will go home once their drills are done.
After all draft-able players are done, coaches sons will do the same drills.
Coaches sons should be rated as to what round of draft they would be picked, if they were in the total draft.
For example: if 88 kids total, and 11 on a team, if you think the player is in the top 8 players of all 88,
that kid would be rated a 1st rounder; if a kid was 25th-33 they would be a 4th round draft pick, etc.

Draft

Before draft, coaches might want to get together to discuss their ratings of kids, and have game plan for draft. Remember many of the kids you want will be taken by other teams. Everybody gets 4 or 5 good players, its who can draft the bottom 5-6 of coachable kids that make a good team. Making notes on your preview sheet will help as the draft goes along.
